Ascension Valaisanne

Bike Warriors

It’s about 2 guys who decided last summer to go on a journey from South (Florida Keys) to North (Alaska) of the United States with a bike, loads of energy and a big thirst for adventure. 6000 miles (9656km!) in 89 days, all very well described on their blog and because what they came across is certainly a pleasure for the eyes, they made a movie. Here is the trailer.

Summer Escape DVD

Remember the ‘Vamos a la Playa’ crew I wrote about this summer? These 6 Fixie sidekicks who decided to venture in the South to Barcelona. Well after all the sweat, heat and painful rides, it couldn’t be it! The past long months of silence did reveal some hard work on videos and photos to please us all with a new DVD-photobook package coming up! This is the teaser with DJ Shadow “Giving up the ghost” soundtrack and it looks very promising!

Ride Pizza Chianti

Critical success

Remember the Critical Dirt teaser seen on the blogosphere over the summer? Well it looks like the Ertzui boys are finally done with their documentary Critical Dirt – A Study in Crossification. The plot has nothing of extraordinary, it is about a cyclocross event in Germany with 80 riders embarked on a race for 126km and 9 hours. Of course I would not talk about this film if I did not have a soft spot for their work. Although cyclocross is not the most vibrant subject for a film, the way they put their experience, mind, passion and energy in this documentary is strikingly delightful. After watching this 26 min. cyclocross journey, I just remembered that there is nothing better than a bike gathering and some cold beer! Keep on the good work Ertzui Film.

Summer escape

It is about a coalition of 6 Fixed Gear enthusiasts who decided to venture into the city of Gaudi, Barcelona. The road trip is far from being a nice little journey in the fields (or maybe it will, hopefully) since the crew is going to sweat during 1500km, leaving from Stuttgart on July 24th. You can check out their website Vamos a la Playa where they’ll post videos, photos and I’m sure some good stories to make us feel a bit less miserable at work!

Bon Voyage

A Bohemian Adventure

It is about two friends on bikes, towing surfboard along the west coast of France during 6 weeks. The duo of the photographer George Foulds and the writer James Bowden documented their French wandering with creative writings, a few spooky illustrations and some moody ‘Low-fi’ photography. The outcome of this expedition is summed up in a 20 pages newspaper that just makes me feel like I am having a ‘jambon-beurre’ (the typical French hoagie) on a rainy day in Cap Ferret… damn I’ve just missed my metro stop.
