At this price you can seriously think about it!
The new artistic/luxury feat called “velo” is the result of a collab work between Pharrell Williams, Domeau & Pérès, the French design editor, and Brooklyn Machine Works, who produced the frame and fork. The bike is made out of 4130 chromemoly seamless airplane grade steel tubing and covered with water buffalo leather, and of course all the stitching work is done by hand. So let me tell you this ‘one of a kind’ will be the most limited edition bike on earth, as there’ll be 1 bike for 1 color (12 colors) . For those who are interested, the bike is available at the Gagosian store for just €20,000.00 ($27,250 USD)! At this price, they could have gone a little bit fancier, rattlesnake skin maybe?

Crumpled city
Being a bike rider without an I-phone, a messenger with an I-phone but no WIFI network or just someone who can’t bare the technical task of folding an over-scaled map, this is the ultimate gift for you. “Crumpled city” maps, made by designer Emanuele Pizzolorusso, are nothing like the flimsy paper maps you usually stick negligently in your pocket. Those maps are made of Tyvek®, same stuff used for envelopes, wristbands and housewrap. Needless to say they are super strong, even in nasty weather you won’t see a tear nor a rip. So go head, get one for your next trip in Berlin, Rome, Paris, New York or London and no need to be gentle!

Write a bike

Bike 2.0
The new generation of bike is on its way and looks strangely like a fixie : Bike 2.0, an energy self-generated bike, with no gears, no chains but genuinely equipped with a generator-motor-battery to relieve your legs in steep slopes.
The project team walked off the Seoul Cycle Design Competition 2010 with the pride of a winner and probably lots of excitement for the next bike production plans.
I kind of like this new concept bike, the technology is well thought (you can actually control the level of energy / difficulty of the ride thanks to the 2 wireless rings on the handlebar) and hopefully will appeal more people to use bikes. Last but not least, the technology is well hidden in the bike itself making it pretty nice to look at. More info here.

Greener Bike, Bamboo bike
Wood floor, salad bowl, beer, they all have one thing in common : bamboo! This famous tree beloved by pandas can grow 60cm (24 in.) per day and is as solid as a rock. No wonder why this tree has already conquered the bike world, it is cheap, eco-friendly, light and tough. I remember having seen these original looking bikes 2 years ago at the Eurobike but when reading the recent article in the NY Times listing numerous bamboo bicycle start-ups and other bamboo related projects, I’m glad to see that the sustainable trend is pedaling up!
