These last few days you have probably come across the Rapha team tackling 4 stages of the famous 2011 Amgen Tour of California (runs May 15-22) . The videos are amazing and no doubt California is the state to ride, with such a diversity of lanscapes and mind-blowing vistas, it has it all (even the good wine)! I went on the famous coastal road US-1 two months ago and I couldn’t agree more with rider Slate Olson, no need to go to Italy to have amazing roads.

“Tales From The Crit is the first-ever Fixed Gear Criterium race ever organized locally. Organized by a small group of cycling enthusiasts, the race will be an opportunity to bring together as many Fixed Gear cyclists from around the region in this community that has been steadily growing. The race is not about finding out who has the fastest legs and the strongest lungs but a chance to tighten the cycling community. We, the organizers are hoping that this event will not be the first and last of its kind here in Singapore but we are hoping that it will grow into a must-go event that happens annually or even bi-annually.”

Ten expresso shots wouldn’t be sufficient to Frank Warren, owner of the Breukelen Coffee House in Crown Heights, for celebrating victory at the Red Hook Criterium, a unique nighttime cobblestone bike race in Brooklyn. It is not just about fixed gear, going on a Sunday ride for a good dose of exercise, it is way more than that as Frank would explain to you.
